I'm particularly pleased that John Hayes will be joining me as co-trainer. John is a Commercial Development Director in the ICT industry working with finance customers. He will have just come back from a short visit to India to develop outsourcing opportunities.

A sombre thought and a positive intention

As you may be aware one of the NLP presuppositions is that 'there is a positive intention behind every behavior'- which often causes significant debate on courses, but is a very practical belief if you're coaching or using NLP.

I was recently looking through the top 1000 DVD's from Amazon UK and came across a DVD set called 'The great war - 1914 to 1918' which is a seven DVD set (20 hours viewing) taken from a black and white BBC TV programme made in 1964.

I've found watching it almost a life changing event, the fact that life was
probably changing more quicly then for people than now, and that almost 60,000 people died in just the first day of the battle of the Somme makes me think that most of us are probably luckier than we think.

And the positive intention? I'm not sure yet, but I do think its a mistake if we forget some of the history our parents or grand parents have been through.

Glossary of terms continued - Parts

For those that up to now have some difficulty in remembering NLP terms I'm
including one a month. Do not be concerned if they don't make sense yet. They will do.

Parts - A metaphorical way talking about independant programmes and strategies of behaviour.

Transactional analysis talks about your 'parent, adult and child' parts. They're not real but can be useful as a way of thinking about or explaining things - just remember to integrate them when you've finished!

Parts can be used in persuasion 'There is a part of you that really wants to
benefit from this course, can't you feel how strongly it wants to attend and
help you learn? Just focus on it for a while......
