Improving you coaching skills
----------------------------------------------------------
I've been reviewing some of the top coaching books in preparation of our executive coaching master class next month, I've two recommendations.
The first, 'Coaching in a week', by Matt Somers is a short and very pragmatic book on business coaching. For new coaches it gives a practical coaching framework. It's based on a coaching framework called 'ARROW'. 'Arrow' stands for aims, reality, reflection, options and way forward.
It's not an NLP book, but a reflection I made on reading it was how a background in NLP can help in becoming an exceptionally effective coach.
Read further details on the link below.
Coaching in a week:
Uncommon Therapy ----------------------------------------------------------
As a contrast the second is 'Uncommon therapy' by John Haley, this book provides a looks at Milton Erickson's approach through a number of case studies at various stages through the human life cycle.
While demonstrating Erickson's trust of both his and his clients unconscious processes, it emphasises the strength of being able to give clients the resources and experiences to enable them to move forward to new life stages, like a totally different career, a new relationship or a new decade.
Some of Erickson's approaches can appear totally ruthless, and I totally understand how the first reviewer on the following link doesn't approve.

Executive coaching master class
----------------------------------------------------------
We have three places left on the above seminar on the 2-4th February that I'm pleased to be hosting with Peter Freeth. As you're probably aware Peter is a Robert Dilts accredited Alpha Leadership Coach and runs his own extremely successful coaching business.
Please call if you would like further details.
Executive coaching master class:
6 Questions for problem solving
----------------------------------------------------------
I've also had another read of Peter's book '6 Questions'. This is a short and very practical book on problem solving based on 'Why', 'How', 'What', 'Where', 'Who' and ''When', with 'Help I'm stuck!' and 'Now what?' added for good measure.
It's also a good introduction to some of the concepts of NLP written in straight forward English.
6 Questions:
Company team presentations
----------------------------------------------------------
To spread the word about how NLP can help in businesses, I do no more than six free presentations a year in business across the UK. The only pre-requisite is that they must be for at least an hour and you pick up the expenses tab. Let me know if you're interested.

Swap links with us ----------------------------------------------------------
One the targets I set at the beginning of the year was to become no 1 in www.google.com for the terms 'Business NLP' and 'Executive coaching' for www.ppimk.com and www.execcoach.net. We've achieved both - although I report this with respect as it could change at any time.
A key reason for this is the Business, NLP and coaching links we've developed. If you've a webs site and would like to swop links, please follow the link below to the 'add link' form. We now take and show a 'screen shot' of all the pages we link to from www.ppimk.com , eg http://www.ppimk.com/links/nlp-links22.htm
Please note that a Google placing is not a clean NLP outcome!! (it's not under my control) However it does set a direction and focus. Maximising what I do to achieve it is. And if it doesn't work I do something different.

NLP Terms - Transderivational Search
----------------------------------------------------------
To make it easier to understand NLP terms I'm including one a month - They are a lot easier to understand than they may at first seem.
Transderivational Search
A transderivational search is an automatic process when you look through your ideas, memories and experience to make sense of something I say - until you find something that seems to make 'sense'.
If I'm credible and you have a genuine interest in listening to what I say - and I say something random, you're programmed to try and make sense of it. And if you succeed you'll believe it.
This is one application of questions, when I'm asking a question not because I want to know the answer, but because I want to stimulate your creative thinking to solve something. And sometimes the strangest of questions get the best results.
However I do need to credible and have rapport first!
