Benefits of NLP? ----------------------------------------------------------
From time to time I'm asked to explain the benefits of NLP in a few phrases. My normal reply is that NLP is really about thinking and communication skills and that these are the building blocks of almost everything we do. An increase in these will improve the odds of us achieving what we want with less effort.
In addition NLP provides a significant set of tools to help us achieve our own specific objectives.
The following link gives an indications of benefits against specific job functions.

Leadership Masterclass 28-30th July
----------------------------------------------------------
We still have some places for the above Leadership Masterclass. The idea is to let delegates improve their NLP skills in the context of leadership and management. The course will be built around the scenario that you are about to take over the leadership of a company, department or team and want to develop your own 30/60 day action plan to aid your success.

NLP in Whitstable:
Faster than the speed of change ----------------------------------------------------------
I've been re-reading Paul Lemberg's book 'Faster than the speed of change' Paul is a leading executive and business coach and his book is full of simple, pragmatic concepts to improve performance. The book has about 85 chapters of a couple of pages each. Topics range from Seeing the future, Having big problems, Strategy is an invention, What's possible to Tracking systems.

Richard Bandler in Dublin
----------------------------------------------------------
I was lucky enough to attend Richard's celebration of 30 years of NLP in Dublin last month - complete with birthday cake! Richard was on top form. One of the curious things about attending a good NLP seminar is that you catch yourself doing new things afterwards. And I'm going to return to explore Dublins pubs better.
Richard Bandler and John La Valle run some innovative seminars through META. Its worth keeping an eye on their site from time to time.

Glossary of terms continued - Secondary Gain
----------------------------------------------------------
For those that up to now may have had some difficulty in remembering NLP terms I'm including one a month.
Secondary Gain
Where some seemingly negative or problematic behaviour carries out some positive function at some level. For example, smoking may help a person to relax or help them fit a particular self image.
To be effective any change needs to address the secondary gain, for example if smoking is relaxing then the change needs to provide an alternative way of relaxing.
Secondary gain is also particulary important in organisational change. It is almost impossible to change an organisations culture unless you change the reward structure to fit.
